Glass Models and Simulation Methods

Tuesday, October 12, 2010      CSEC Seminar Room
     James Clerk Maxwell Building 3808
     Kings Buildings, U. of Edinburgh

Description: This short meeting will feature a collection of introductory talks addressing computational techniques for studying relaxation processes and molecular structure of glasses. PhD students are especially encouraged to attend. The meeting will be preceded by a sandwich lunch and coffee in the Mathematics Common Room (JCMB 5212) at 12:15. Registration is free for both the talks and lunch, but we ask you sign up using the form linked below so that we may keep track of numbers.

Talks:

  • 13:00 Walter Kob, Montpellier
Simulations of Glassy Systems: Current State and a (speculative) View of the Future
  • 14:00 Alastair Cormack, New York
Large Scale Simulations of Silicate Glasses
  • 15:00 Davide Marenduzzo, Edinburgh
Lattice Boltzmann simulations of complex fluids, and the structure of blue phase III: a liquid crystalline glass?
  • 15:30 Eduardo Sanz, Edinburgh
Simulating colloidal glasses: a study of devitrification of hard sphere like colloids
